TRUK UNITED

TRUK United Football Team on Trans Day of Visibility 2026

TRUK United FC was formed in January 2021 by Trans Radio UK to make football a more inclusive sport and to raise funds for their volunteer helpline TRUK Listens.

Since then, the club has grown into a pioneering force in the game. They play charity matches, friendlies and tournaments across the UK, making history again and again as one of the first clubs to create dedicated opportunities for transgender players.

TRUK United has become known not only for breaking barriers, but for building community. The team provides a safe and welcoming environment where players of all gender identities and backgrounds are supported and celebrated.

Their stance is simple: football should be for everyone.

EMILY

Emily is a teenage footballer and trans rights advocate from Liverpool. A passionate Liverpool FC supporter, she struggled to find a team that welcomed her until joining TRUK United. Since then, she has flourished as both a player and a campaigner, travelling regularly to London to play matches and representing the next generation of trans athletes.

Widely recognised for her work championing trans youth, Emily has received multiple awards for her activism. She is already proving that young trans players belong in the game and is set to be a trailblazer for years to come.

LUCY

Lucy Clark has been making history throughout her career. Recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s first openly transgender referee, she has spent years carving out space for trans people in the sport she loves. A lifelong Sutton United supporter, she now manages the club’s fifth-tier women’s team - something she describes as “a dream come true.”

In 2021, Lucy founded TRUK United FC, creating a team that has redefined what inclusion in football can look like. As founder and coach, she leads both on and off the pitch, while continuing her work with Trans Radio UK, the station she founded and still DJs for.
